Yeah, it's like sending Madonna to investigate a whore house. That aside, this Mapes witch needs to go to jail and share a cell with Bertha Dieseldyke.

I still contend that the "unimpeachable" referred to
misreading the White House response when CBS sent them
copies of the memos. The failure to "impeach" the memos
made them "unimpeachable" - it was seen as confirming
them (and by implication, the source).
Whether the "no comment" was a deliberate WH rope-a-dope,
or the WH, unlike CBS, merely wanted to look into them
before making a formal statement, it was the final fatal
after-dinner mint for the skewed scandal gluttons at CBS.
It never ceases to amaze me how Americans will blast a man, any man, who even mildly looks as if he's guilty of something. But women get a free pass. What, are we women smart enough to lead, but too innocent to deceive? CRAP!
I felt that when Rather said unimpeachable source it was
in the context of where he got the memos.
I could be wrong but that was my understanding.
You could be "right on" in your assessment. Right now, everything is speculation.

That's what most people assume. I'm not so sure.
> I could be wrong but that was my understanding.
I'm always willing to be mistaken, too.
But reportedly, there was a jubilant reaction at CBS
when the White House did their "no comment" thing.
Whether CBS based "unimpeach" on that or not, they
grossly misread it.
I have to wonder if the White House actually ran the
memos by Bush. If so, he would instantly have known
that they were forgeries (based on the content, not
the formatting), and might well have said - let's
hold our cards on this.
"CBS investigating its own is kind of like OJ searching for the 'real' killer"
Yeah. I'm really going to hold my breath on this one.
Whatever the reason, the White House passing on the docs and handing them back to Rather/CBS was one of the all-time moves. Here's the rope back, Dan!
One thing for sure when Rather said unimpeachable source
we all knew he wasn't talking about Clinton!
LOL!
Empty file cabinets from the top down. if you do it from the bottom the whole file cabinet falls over.
