Diverse Group of Women from Across Illinois Support the Re-Election of George W. Bush

CHICAGO, IL - Bush Cheney '04 today announced its leadership team for the state's "W Stands for Women" coalition, including a diverse group of women from throughout the state of Illinois.  Mary Jo Arndt of Lombard will serve as the group's chair.  Honorary chairs include former Illinois First Lady Brenda Edgar, U.S. Representative Judy Biggert, as well as State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka and Jean Hastert, wife of U.S. Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

"I'm proud to stand here today for President George W. Bush because W stands for women - all women.  All women -- single mothers, entrepreneurs and small business leaders, grandmothers, moms with children struggling and mothers worried about the constant peril of terrorism.  We are all better off today because George W. Bush is a strong and decisive leader.  This President delivered tax relief that benefits families.  This President provided more accountability in our local schools.  This President looked terror in the face and responded with determination and resolve.  Because of George W. Bush, our economy is stronger, our nation is more secure and our children's futures are brighter," Arndt said.

President Bush has been a strong leader for women extending even beyond this country's borders.

"President Bush is committed to making sure women and children around the world have the same opportunities that we enjoy here in the United States. The Bush Administration values that freedom as the right of every person. Today, not only are we a more secure country, but women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan are enjoying greater opportunity and prosperity because of this President's determined leadership," said Illinois "W Stands for Women"  honorary chair Judy Baar Topinka.

In the past two and a half years, 50 million men, women, and children have been liberated in Iraq and Afghanistan, including 25 million women and girls who are now free to go to school, vote in elections, and play an active role in their societies.

America's 10.1 million women-owned businesses employ 18.2 million people and contribute 3.6 trillion dollars to the national economy.  Women-owned businesses are growing at twice the rate of all U.S. firms.  The President's tax relief for the nation has returned our economy to a path of growth.  In 2004, 111 million families will save an average of $1,536 thanks to tax relief.  Tax relief stimulates the economic sector and creates more job opportunities.

I used to like Alan Keyes but he has gotten so far out in right field that he couldn't even get a membership in a Right Wing Conspiracy Club. Sometimes I think that deep down he wants to be a "shock jock" by some of his outlandish statements.

I hope the BC/'04 folks don't spend any money in IL. Just let the cable tv ads be their only outreach into a state that we are not going to win; and neither is Alan Keyes.

I feel the same way about CA, NY, MA, VT and RI. Save your money and put it into battleground states.

I definitely agree...I would not spend a dime in Illinois and spend big in S.D. to unseat Daschle. That's how it's playing out.
