I will rotate and re-save in a bit (my wife is using that computer at the moment) This was created with an older Adobe Photo Deluxe program. Are you saying that I should have saved it as TIFF (the default type) before I saved it as an EPS (which is what I did before I saved it as a PDF). Or should I save as I did only in a smaller file. Why do I sound like John Kerry?

Ah. In that case, the fonts are raster regardless, so
you probably can't create a fully vectorized PDF.

Worth a try. Since the image is mostly large regions of
one of two colors, repeat-count (TIFF's optional LZW/ZIP)
compression is apt to be more effective than curve-matching
(JPEG's DCT) compression.
