On Friday, Sept. 3, the day after the convention ended, Mapes hit pay dirt. She told Howard her source had given her the documents.

This is supported by the date on one of the memos examined by Emily Will (document examiner hired by CBS). It was faxed the evening of Sept. 2nd.
