the secondary purpose of this whole "charade" was to get the focus off Kerry's miserable record in and on the military, and instead, to focus on W, call his integrity into question, even if weakly and get the 'swift boats' stuff off of page one.

controlling the news cycle, is what it's all about.

the whole damned thing, is a non issue as it relates to bush.
CLINTON NEVER served, admitting he went to Europe to avoid the DRAFT... and it meant NOTHING to the electorate who put him in office not once, but TWICE.

They saw kerry going down in the polls, atttributed it, falsely I think, to the swifty ads, instead of the BRILLIANT performance of the RNC in NYC... and did THIS emergency maneuver to try and get the news cycle back under their power.

The focus is now the scandal, instead of flip-flopper Kerry... and as we all know Kerry does his very best, when nobody sees him or the breck girl in public.

Bush will still win... if all goes well.
America is not buying this story, doesn't see it as important as an issue, and wants to move on. CBS has this investigative committee plan going... just to try and keep the accusations alive... and the focus off of komrade kerry.

Thank you for posting that photo. That picture was taken a few days after Clinton made his disastrous "confession" to the nation re Lewinsky--I think it was 8/17/98--and it has ALWAYS bothered me that Cronkhite was on the yacht with the Clintons during their conveniently-timed vacation.

As far as I am concerned, Uncle Walter is less trustworthy than Dan Rather, Mary Mapes, and Joe Lockhart, and he LIED to me on a nightly basis when I was too naive to know any better.

Just like Dan Rather's "the Wall Within" did irreparable harm to the image of our country in the eyes of the world, Cronkhite's reporting of the Vietnam war did irreparable damage to the image of our military in the eyes of its countrymen. And what really frosts me is that LBJ used Cronkhite as a source of "intelligence" to conclude that the Tet Offensive was a failure.

God save us from CBiaS' intelligence!!!

"It is obviously against CBS News standards and those of every other reputable news organization to be associated with any political agenda," CBS News said in a statement.

The First Amendment isn't in our Constitution to provide for an unbiased media. It is there to protect the right of opposition.

Media bias is a Constitutional right!

And the Kerry Campaign began the "Fortunate Son" ads. Just a coincidence...

Excellent point!

Dan Rather knew EXACTLY what he was doing. The FBI should get into this....the sooner the better.

The MSM are feeding us hamburger and many of us are scarfing it down. But I'm not distracted enough to miss the ribeye they're sitting on.

The stink is ALL OVER CBS, Dan Rather, and the Democrats, and it will be for a long, long time! (Not to mention the enduring pungent reek of Michael Moore.)

I am absolutely lovin' this!

> couldn't we call Rather "the most busted man in America"?

LOL, at long last, a fine end to a pretentious, deceptive career.

He'll reach that level of distinction when they finally get rid of him.

Caitlin and I call them , "Stiff Chickies"!

Yes, it's gross.

That's nothing. I used to love those little Vienna Sausages until I heard a friend call them "monkey peters."

Still can't eat 'em to this day.

If Cronkite was "the most trusted man in America" couldn't we call Rather "the most busted man in America"?

HAHAHA!! I just may steal that for my tagline, if you don't mind.

I never watch Blather either but may watch him on the night G.W.Bush wins another four years. That is, if his sorry ass isn't kick out by then. I want to see his face when HE has to announce Bush as the winner by a landslide. LOL
