MCAULIFFE: WILL GOP ANSWER IF THEY KNOW WHETHER STONE, OTHERS HAD INVOLVEMENT WITH CBS DOCUMENTS?

Washington, D.C. - In response to false Republican accusations regarding the CBS documents, Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe issued this statement:

“In today’s New York Post, Roger Stone, who became associated with political ‘dirty tricks’ while working for Nixon, refused to deny that he was the source the CBS documents.

“Will Ed Gillespie or the White House admit today what they know about Mr. Stone’s relationship with these forged documents? Will they unequivocally rule out Mr. Stone’s involvement? Or for that matter, others with a known history of dirty tricks, such as Karl Rove or Ralph Reed?”

"I have look around on the New York Post site. Does anyone know where the article is the DNC refers to? What did stone actually say?"

I have the Post in my hand and I do not see any article by Roger Stone. The only thing I see that even mentions "Stone" is an editorial entitled "Black Rock Stonewall" and it is a blistering attack on CBS, for example: An excerpt: "CBS yesterday pledged to undertake "an independent review" of this entire debacle. (O.J. is still searching for the real killers, too.)"

I'm going to check again, and I'll let you know if I find anything.

Stone is a long time Republican lawyer who has worked on many campaigns. He has most recently done work for Al Sharpton. I guess Sharpton would rather trust a Republican than a DNC lawyer, but the DUers believe that Stone was a double agent for the RNC and somehow passed along the documents.
