Mapes suggested Lockhart contact retired officer Burkett
A campaign adviser for John Kerry told CNN he spoke with retired Texas National Guard officer Bill Burkett -- the man who CBS said provided them with disputed documents -- days before the "60 Minutes" piece aired and after a call from a CBS news producer, but....

Holy moly, Kerry begins with a 'K'! I wonder if the reason the Kerry campaign is flailing about in all directions is because Karl Rove is behind it!

"Time for CBS to have a major housecleaning. If they fired the ossified Left-Wing on-air talent and producers and replaced them with young, hungry, Center/Right personnel, and announced a major shift to the right (We Report/You Decide), they could have half the broadcast market sewed up by Election Day. Young and Center/Right is where the demographics are, anyway.
And those kids will work cheap!"
Been saying this for months. Same thing with the papers. If the NY TImes ran the story about Rather tomorrow followed up with ties to Kerry, the circulation would explode.

The "K" in Kerry stands for Strike-Out.
The "F" in John F. Kerry stands for Forger.

Ms. Mapes should be immediately fired along with that piece of human vermin Dan Rather, and then indicted, sent to trail and then prison!!!
To: LS
Did you also notice that when Monica pressed Ellis on what the consequences would be if the Kerry campaign was directly tied to this he said that the campaign would be OVER! Let's hope the connections are made.

"Rather's apology was hedged" you are so correct. The only thing that rather admitted to and apologized for was a rush to air the story without making sure the documents were authentic. That's all!

"former head of CBS news, who, while admitting terrible mistakes were made, refused STILL to admit that this was done out of bias or partisanship." Can you say "hidden agenda".

I don't remember who it was and really does not matter but CNN even as of last night had a guest that was allowed to continue with the argument that the real story here is that although the memos are fake no one has been able to impeach the content. The CNN host (the weasel with the glasses) just nodded his head in agreement.

This has been Bush's modus operandi for years, and it has driving some of us "red meat" conservatives crazy, but it is deadly effective: take the high road, bless your enemies, say little about the mud (whether Swiftboats or Memogate), and let the pajamahadeen carry the water.
I think when we finally get a true inside history of this White House, we are going to find some brilliant strategerists at work.

I didn't notice that, but usually Monica is both funny and feisty---quite argumentative. But today, it was as if she was restrained, like she knew something and wasn't going to let the cat out of the bag just yet.
The fact that Lockhart is now on Fox having to defend himself proves this story has legs, and not just Monica's!

Yep, and that Lockhart evaded the question all together that CNN asked him about his receiving advise. The big spin was on. "The people are interested in things effecting their lives today and not something which happened 35 years ago" (paraphrasing).
