Bush's historic education reform is upgrading schools across the country.

Good to see a little humor thrown in.

"Bush's historic education reform is upgrading schools across the country."

You may laugh, Aquinasfan, but reading rates are also way up in Ohio. It's in our headlines, too.

I have a nine year old, and two teenagers, all of whom at least started in public schools. My teens were started on the whole reading crap when they were young, even though we live in one of the best public systems in the country. One teen remains in public school due to some learning disabilities, but he reads fine now. I'm glad he failed his fourth grade reading test, because he finally got proper reading instruction. As a result, he's on the honor roll taking regular high school classes.

My 4th grader in public school has been taught phonics all the way, and after every test her reading and math program becomes readjusted to her level. Thankfully, she rates high enough to require enhanced instruction. Among other things, she enjoys reading Free Republic, and gets most of the jokes. Michelle Malkin is her heroine.
