From this cozy scenario I'll bet Mapes also gave Abu Ghirab updates early to Dem Senators to try and hijack Abu Ghirab hearings with Dir. of Defense..

That is why Mapes is gone. She tipped off a partisan campaign to get the story as a quid pro quo. I can't imagine CBS will give her a bye for that one.
