From the article: "Lockhart said ..."It's possible that the producer said they had documents," before his conversation with Burkett, he said.

So how would that work? Either the CBS producer called Joe Lockhart and said, "Hey there's a nice fellow here who said he would give us damaging information on Bush on the condition that we can get him in touch with a honcho at the DNC." Or she just called and said." I am a CBS producer and there's a fellow we know who wants to talk to someone high up in the DNC. But don't ask me why... just talk to him.

Can the DNC and CBS collude like that? Can they DO that?
