Some are speculating that if this was a concerted effort to bring down Bush with forgeries, why didn't they come up with something more explosive? I believe that this was just the first of many such stories (forgeries)to come out. Remember, that some of CBS experts have stated, they were given many more documents than the 4-6 that we know about. I think this retreaded TX ANG story was just the beginning. CBS was going to get everyones attention, and get the story churning. Maybe draw Bush into the fracas, then drop some big bomb on him. It may have been coordinated with the Fortunate Son campaign, along with the Kitty Kelly book.

But when the first CBS story quickly turned to the possibility of forgeries, they had to put everything else on the backburner. My guess, drug use, a rape or something else was going to be dropping over the next few weeks. Just a theory, but makes you wonder. Because was CBS came out with on Sept 8th, wasn't a big deal if even true. Most of it was already known or suspected by almost everyone. Where was the story?

IMHO, the dems and MSM were planning a multiple front attack. The guard story was only one angle. To much to get done and coordinated. It's the little things that get you.

I think you may be right about part of this. I don't know about the drug use and rape but I suspect they were trying to force Bush to talk and then catch him in a supposed lie based on the fake documents. The best laid plans........

You bring up another good point... once this backfired on them, it mercifully buried Kitty's cat tail's... now anything else they were saving for their October surprise should pale compared to this mess they're in with forged documents. I can picture them all now sharing a room with Martha.
