Meet Anton Srdanovic (Running Against Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) who signed U.N. letter)
Anton For Congress ^

Posted on 09/20/2004 4:45:16 PM PDT by jmstein7

I was raised in a working-class New York City family that stressed the importance of hard work and a good education. Growing up, I saw firsthand the burden of government regulation and heavy taxes and decided at a young age that I wanted to do something about it.http://www.antonforcongress.com/bio.html

Anton Srdanovic

Anton's leadership skills and fresh ideas draw from an impressive resume that includes more than eight years of experience in the financial sector and an additional seven years in the utility industry. He has the experience needed to resolve economic issues and provide an environment in which the private sector can flourish. Anton's background also allows for a strong focus on energy policy, and an understanding of the promising technologies of the future. He believes that our national security problems are tied heavily to our reliance on foreign oil, and plans to take an active role in seeking alternative energy sources for the future that will protect the environment and reduce our oil dependency. He will also focus on national security issues so that his constituents can feel safe in their homes and places of work.

Anton has several years of political experience in addition to his private sector work. He is an elected District Leader and has been responsible for getting many candidates on the ballot. He was President of the New York Young Republican Club, Inc., from 1994 to 1997, during which the Club saw significant growth in membership and influence in the political community.  Anton has also served on the executive board of the Metropolitan Republican Club. He has volunteered on several political campaigns, helping to elect Rudolph Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg, and George Pataki. He was also the Republican candidate for the 14th Congressional seat in 2002, earning more votes than the previous three Republican challengers.

Anton has strong ties to his community on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where he has lived for the past 15 years. He regularly volunteers with New York Cares on projects that affect his area and New York City. Anton has helped raise money for the Children's Aid Society by hosting fundraisers. He has been active with Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of America and is currently on the board of the New York Benevolence Council, a group dedicated to raising money and awareness for various humanitarian causes such as victims of domestic violence, people living with AIDS, and the homeless.

Anton attended Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1988. In 1994 he was awarded an MBA in Finance from New York University.

Anton believes that New Yorkers deserve better representation in Congress and that too many career politicians populate Congress today. He also believes that those who represent us should bring real life experience to office. Anton has that real life experience and wants to put it to work for the people of New York so that they can get the opportunities and the future that they deserve.

Well, from what I've heard, he can HAMMER Maloney with the U.N. issue if he had some $.

Even if he doesn't win, he can damage her for 2006.

"Does this fellow actually have a chance?"

Unfortunately, no. The 14th CD takes in much of Manhattan's high-income (and very liberal) areas, plus a few middle-class neighborhoods in NW Queens (such as Astoria) and NW Brooklyn.

"Which is a shame."

I agree. Our only chance to take out Maloney was to redistrict her in with Congressman Cartman (I mean, Nadler) in an all-Manhattan district, and have one of the two traitors lose in the RAT primary.
