I'm sorry but Al Gore was a friend of Yeltsin and so was Berezovsky and Khodorkovsky and Pottanin and Gusinsky. Putin has come out twice for Bush to the US media, maybe you missed that?

Doesn't fit their agenda that Putin supported Bush.

Bush presents the most potent potential opponent to the anti Western nations and anti Western supra national forces since Ronald Reagan. It is in the interest of a backstabber like Putin to appear, at certain times, especially in the realm of rhetoric, to support Bush. The goal is to steer the current leadership of the US away from confrontation with Russia, at least for now. There are geopolitical imperatives, from the perspective of the Kremlin, which trump honorable behavior toward the West.
