I understand that it is in the interest of the Dems and Rather to make Burkett the lone forger and into some kind of John Hinckley.
But it is sheer legal malpractice for Burkett to appear on national television under these circumstances. If he did not forge the documents, he at the very least has offered statements on the internet to incriminate himself in a conspiracy to offer dirty tricks in the campaign.
I understand that Burkett's lawyer has political motives and political aspirations, but this guy can not any more defend his legal advice to let Burkett appear, than Rather can defend himself as a journalist for referring to Burkett as an unimpeachable source.
There may be more holes in the story of how the documents got on the air than there were in the claim that the documents were authentic.
The question is will the MSM tire of the story and lose their will to extract the truth from Rather and his co-conspirators in the DNC.
This was an attempted coup. It is nothing short of treasonous to try to take down a sitting President in time of war with a criminal conspiracy to accuse him of a court martial offense of disobeying a direct order on the basis of forgeries so obvious that they did not pass the sniff test.
His attorney made a statement today as well:

This thing is really getting more and more bizzare by the minute!
the phone records are available from the kinkos fax, burkett's phone(s), others, to actually figure out who talked to whom, who faxed to whom, etc., if a criminal investigation actually took place. I am not betting on it, though.
that isn't to say the fbi or pentagon hasn't already viewed this data clandestinely.
Agreed, and Brit Hume brought up the same point.
