This is quite an eye opener. We have 50 SC's. This guy probably, but still unknown why not, could have made his way through the SC and go unchallenged committing total carnage. If this guy turns out to be a 'preppy', just imagine what al-qaeda could do on simultaneous scale. I am beginning to think this Homeland Defense department is a joke. We are so vulnerable. Sad.

All indications are that he ran in (up a very short flight of stairs), shot the guard, and ran out. Lots of speculation on local radio that this was not random - but that is pure speculation.

IL looks unique. THe others have armed cops. Looks lke the liberals in the IL capitol pulled them recently. Probably to enable something like this for an excuse for more gun control.
I'll bet this moron is insane like the nut that tried to bomb a smiley face on the US map. First he runs out of a store with a shotgun. Then he goes to a gun store with it and demands a rifle. He gets chased out in a gunfight and goes to the SC, walks up the steps with a shotgun and kills an unarmed guard. Then flees.
If the Ds don't care if they get blasted by random nut cases, I don't care. I do care that they insist everyone else poses as a perfect victim.

Update
This is a view of the capitol building from the northwest side. The street in front is Monroe street, a one way street that the suspect is supposed to have fled down (east). The entrance that the perp ran up can be seen in the photo just above the red van on the left side of the pic; there is a short flight of stairs to the doors there just underneath those arches. Right by those bushes at the extreme left of the pic is the exit of the driveway that curves by that entrance. It would be very easy for someone to drive up that driveway (enter on 2nd street), park in front there, and escape out that exit.
I will try to find a better pic.
