He essentially apologized for getting caught. He didn't apologize to any of the victims of his reckless disregard for the truth.

It's a non-apology.

You're right, it's a really "sorry" apology. He truly owes one to the President. This was no "mistake in judgment"--it was a planned attack, planned for over 5 long years. It was a Kamikazi attack as it turns out, but to claim it was a "mistake in judgment" is all the more infuriating.

He didn't apologize for the crime, he just said that he was sorry. (for getting caught, not for deceiving)
