FROM WITHIN CBS - ANNOUNCEMENT TO STAFF LATER THIS MORNING
National Review Online (The Kerry Spot) ^ | 9/20/2004 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 09/20/2004 7:36:07 AM PDT by Rutles4Ever

My source familiar with discussions within CBS says that the discussions of "Dan falling on his sword" have been "muttered all over the place, but there is nothing solid - so far just "rumor and speculation." However, many staffers has been told to gather around 11 a.m. for an announcement of some sort.

Naw, I think they'll cast him in that new sitcom just announced: What's the frequency Kenneth?!

You forgot the part where he announces that he's accepted a position at some university teaching Ethics in Journalism.

Dan's annoucement: "For over 40 years, CBS has been a tried and true leader in broadcast journalism. I've been happier-than-a Texas rattlesnake soaking in the early evening sun during my career at CBS. But I've seen the pajama light. Like most Americans who've undergone career transitions, it's time to relaunch my career: I'm beginning the Dan Rather School of Pajama Party Bloggerism at www.dan'spajamaparty.com. In the pre-internet era, CBS served its vital function in sustaining viewers around the world with news they needed to digest. But now that I'm in the stoaking-the-Texas-campfire-coals part of my life, it's time to don the pajamas from the comfort of my study. It's time to mentor a whole new era of 21st century bloggerists."

Update from NRO:

CBS News planned Monday to issue a statement about documents purporting to show President Bush neglected some duties when he was in the National Guard more than 30 years ago. ... CBS sources confirm that the network plans to issue a statement but would not comment on its content. Additional reporting on the documents dispute will air on Monday's CBS Evening News.
One would hope that CBSNews.com would have good sources within CBS

"Will he expose the DNC/Kerry connection? If not, it really doesn't matter."

Exactly.

They probably meant 11:00 "the people's time". i.e. Hollywood time.

I love that cartoon! If you know how to re-size it (I don't), it would be a fun post on all the Blather threads.

Imus

Imus and Bernie are totally lost.. I listened to day for the first time in months to see if they continue to remain clueless and they confimred my suspicions. And it took only about 30 seconds of listening to them. In fact, I listened to commercials longer than to them. They are pathetic.

Breaking CBS news:

"We've talked with leading scientists and they agree with our analysts: These documents simply evolved. There was no vast left-wing conspiracy. There was no document architect. There was no design. In fact, we've been able to trace the fact that these documents were at one time trees that evolved into paper, and that the trees have always been part of the eternal existing matter in the universe."

The big announcement is that CBS cancelling it's corporate account with KINKOS.

HA! Yea... and they're probably 'gonna have RATher attack FOXNews tonight for being part of the VRWC!

Watching this moronic, cheesey affair unravel is like watching a hair-brained episode of I Love Lucy... and 'Lucy' is played by Danny-boy Rather!

Drudge also has it that it's a "Dan Rather statement" as opposed to a "CBS statement." Hmmmm.
