'Misled' might have passed the test for the folks still giving you guys the benefit of the doubt a week ago.

After insisting for a week that they are true despite every expert including your own coming out against, dragging an old Lady on air, and challenging Bush AGAIN to respond to the forgeries, well, the ship has sailed on 'misled'.

We are not talking collusion to pass a fraud off on the American people against a sitting President.

not=now

Let me add, I hope you people at CBS have told rather of your intentions. The Cap'n still seems intent to salvage those duds you paraded on national TV.

Rather is not merely stupid. He is resolutely and courageously stupid.

collusion to pass a fraud off on the American people against a sitting President.

The offense is no worse because of the job that citizen Bush happens to hold.

To put it another way, our political system allows, in fact requires, that election opponents strongly and forcefully criticize those who hold high office. The fact that someone is a "sitting President" does not and should not give his political opponents a second's hesitation about attacking him or his record, as long as they are truthful.

OTOH, a coordinated fraudulent attack using major media is just as bad when directed at a private citizen-maybe worse, since said citizen has no tools to respond effectively, whereas a President does have some resources at his disposal to fight back.

The issue is not Bush's status, it's the lies.

Yes indeed, the chance to get out of this with "misled" has long since come and gone! Somebody needs to explain the idealogical bent at CBS News and with Danny Boy himself that so desperately wanted the story to be true, in spite of a mounting mountain of evidence. If there was no political "axe to grind", they would have backed off 10 minutes after other experts confirmed Buckhead & Co.'s (big kudos, by the way!) suspicions and questions.

Also, I'll bet you a shiny new nickle that Burkett takes the entire hit (for a suitcase full of Soros cash?) for this debacle and CBS News has absolutely NO interest in tracking this back to their "unimpeachable sources" in the DNC and Kerry campaigns!
