Since we cannot constitutionally infringe on religious freedom, it is obvious we must convince people Islam is not a religion but rather a dangerous political idealogy.
listen, i honestly beleive this is EXACTLY the kind of thing our enemy wants. if you outlaw islam, you are uniting them. extremists and terrorists already have significant support levels amongst the muslim world. the terrorists use this to hide and to gain strength. the jihadis and martyrs come from the disaffected populace.
meanwhile theres a lot of people in the muslim world who arent really interested in killing us. really. and many of them dont even go to mosque. the entire islamic populace isnt extremist and doesnt support terror. if you were a high up in a terrorist organisation and wanted to unite the islamic world behind you, what do you need to do?
well you need a common enemy. some kind of 'great satan', perhaps? isreal and the usa are perfect. what we need to do is not fall into the trap of being the 'great satan' that the enemy wants us to be.
some people call me an 'appeaser' for this argument but i think they are missing the point. i think our enemy LOVES things like abu ghraib. you think osama bin laden is angry about those pictures? he LOVES them. do you think he gets upset when we cause 'collateral damage' and muslim civilians are killed and injured? HE LOVES IT.
if you want to start uniting our enemy, if you want to give the extremists and the subverters more power, then go ahead. sometimes i dont understand our policy. for example: i think we should have just killed sadr and his army when we had the chance. this is a situation where we must demonstrate superiority to the enemy. they do respect a show of force against the appropriate enemy, and we miss the opportunity?
we need to fight the right battles here. giving our enemy strength by persecuting their religion isnt a good battle.
is islum a CULT of a fanatical leader, not a "religion"?
If so, would it would fall under RACKETEERING laws, coercion and other crimes??
