Does it matter? The only ones Thune has to convince is South Dakota voters. I wonder how many of them watch Meet the Press? Probably not enough. Timmie's playing to East/West coast Leftists. They want to hear about all the glorious socialist/anti-Bush things Dashcle will do, and how the evil conservative Republican Thune would ruin all that. Interestingly enough, Daschle always runs RIGHT, governs LEFT. Anything said on MTP will not be enough to convince South Dakota voters, IMHO.

I wonder if little Tommie will be talking real softly today and sitting on a couple of telephone books to enhance his macho bush-loving image. Will he carry a picture of GW on the set with him?

I don't know the viewership of MTP in South Dakota, but in a 50-50 election, it doesn't take much to swing an election. You can bet the SD press will cover the interview as well. I don't trust Russert to conduct a fair and objective interview. He will emphasize Daschle's national role as the Dems Senate leader, and probably enumerate Daschle's talking points against Thune.

Would love a side shot of Tommy sitting on a phone book next to Thune.
