"Ref is staring right at a UT player and a Florida player. TN player then slaps UF player on helmet as ref watches, then UF player retaliates, paid off ref throws flag..."
I think the the fix was in on this game also. Tenneessee's last touchdown shouldn't have counted either. It was obvious that the runner did not make it to the goal line. He fell short of the goal line about 1 foot and then reached the ball past it, yet the referee, who could clearly see it, called a touchdown. Tenneessee may have scored the touchdown after the next down or two, but we'll never know.
Yeah, we'll never know if Florida would have scored in 2000 in Tennessee after the ref blew an OBVIOUS call saying that Jabar Gaffney (FL receiver) caught a touchdown pass when it slid through his hands without him ever having possession.
Tell you what. The instant someone tells me that he can go back and change that call, I am on the case to try to reverse the call on that personal foul last night.
In fact, while I am at it. I will also change the NON-call of a take-down hold of a TN linebacker about 5 plays earlier to give Fl their 9 yard run. It was incredibly obvious to even the most partial observer. So, I am thinking. Take that penalty. ADD about 45 seconds to the clock and back FL up to around the 10 yard line and make it first and 20. They punt, we get the ball back around the 50 with plenty of time. Heck, we'll probably score a touchdown. No need to kick a 50-yarder.
