US weapons inspector Duelfer says no WMD stockpiles to be found in Iraq but evidence gathered, according to unfinished interim report, that Saddam developed test amounts of chemical weapons, researched ricin production possibly for assassination, was preparing to reinstate full WMD program.
He was also developing drones for delivery and maintaining dual-use industrial sector capable of producing banned weapons. According to Washington leak from unfinished report, Duelfer leaves open possibility of WMD transfer to another country, such as Syria, and stops short of final judgment on pre-war situation. His team will continue work after report is submitted.
Good enough for me. Sodom Hussein's Iraq was not compatible with a civilized world. Of course, Sodom was a stalinist Islamocommie, so the DemocRAT(ic) Communists hate to see a friend get his...regardless.
I think they will finally find them in mid to late October, just in time for the general elections. That is what I would call a strategic shot in the arm for the GOP.
Well I'd say YES, Saddam sure had enough time (thanks U.N.) to relocate all his WMD's to another place!
ya, I think that was why Syria was being so "compliant" for a while - now that they've moved it out (Sudan? Lebanon?) they are getting uppity again...
Oh magic debka 8ball. Summon forth the spirits to help me find my keys I misplaced.
Are there stockpiles somewhere else?
Here's something I dredged up this afternoon;
Iraqi WMD Debate and Intelligence: the links to Libya
The article and it's links got messed up, the main link works.
Thank you for the link. I downloaded the article. Not being a speed reader I will examine it quite closely. So there was a "Iraq-Libya-Egypt-Iran-DPRK linkages" concerning various type WMD developement.
Any readers on this thread, I think you check this link out. One of these days the world is going to know that GWB did not lie nor exagerate as to the need to go into Iraq.
The more I see of this president and how he manages things the more I have gained a deep respect for him. He just might go down in US history as one of the best, if historians do him justice. Of course I doubt there are enough non-liberal historians left to make an impact on how well history is going to be presented in the future.
Thanks dynoman for the heads up on this one!
For me, the operative word in this whole story is "stockpiles". Were literal 'stockpiles' of WMD necessary to make Saddam dangerous? And couldn't it be possible that if Saddam did have 'stockpiles' of WMD, that he had them spread out all over the Iraqi desert, in small containers? I doubt that Saddam would have just burried it all together in the same place.
Precisely what I tried to communicate. I can distinctly remember articles in April/May 2003 time frame when things where starting to be reported out of Iraq...such as local school told to leave for the day. Bulldozer comes in, digs hole in school yard, next day there is a concrete pad over hole, loosely covered with dirt. Blah ...blah...blah.
Like I said, if they can bury complete in tack Mig 21 Fighters in the western desert, (they where found by the 82nd Airborne in later 2003 in AL Anbar district, why could they have not hidden drums of chemicals, special "binary
shells", which are hollowed out artillery shells that have to compartments inside, each contains a "pre-cursor" chemical that when mixed, once the shell leaves the cannon barrel, then as they mix turn into Sarin gas, and obviously
when the shell explodes, releases Sarin gas widely dispersed. After all our Army and Marines where finding gas masks and atropine (to counter the effects of Sarin and some other nerver agents) along with hypos, and various places they had taken over. WHY WOULD SUCH THINGS BE FOUND JUST AFTER OUR GUYS TOOK OVER....in buildings, fox holes...whatever. I never could figure this out. Then as usual, in this fast past info age (educate the dopes real quick, with little substance), no more was mentioned about these particular things that where found. Why would Iraqi
military personel need hypos, atropine, and gas masks?
Please explain it, someone.......Well just maybe they where special army teams responsible for delivering chemical weapon to sites to be used against us, then for some reason orders where given to just bury the damn stuff or quickly ship it across the Syrian boarder before our guys moved in.
Just seems a little suspicious that nothing was found.
Why did they have specially equiped MIG 29's with spray
crop nozzels systems. MiG 29 is a air superiority jet fighter. You don't spray crops with it!
The United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) intends to observe the destruction of Iraqi missile engines that have been found in Jordan and the Netherlands, together with other tagged and dual-use equipment that the organisation had been monitoring in Iraq prior to the withdrawal of inspectors on 18 March 2003. This hardware had been exported from Iraq as scrap material.

Go Navy, power of a US carrier........HOOOORAH.
Good post. I suspect not only will we continue to find all type of descrepencies in why WMD's have not been found but someone one of these days is going to find quantities of various nerve agents, bi-chambered artillery rounds that contain the two pre-cursors to create Sarin gas, etc..
We know by sattalite imagedry that just prior to our guys moving in for the kill, that there where convoys moving to the Syrian boarder. Where those trucks only carrying the regiems secrets as far as money and documentation etc., go or did they contain WMD's. One can read reports that WMD's where transfered into Syria for one. Guess it will take some farmer having his tractor fall off the banks of the Tigris or Euphartes rivers, and being pulled out by our Army or Marines, to find upon doing so they grab hold of a nylon net of sorts that leads to rows of drums of chemical and or bio-logical materials etc.. This is usually how the truth finally comes out! He had em, He used em, and they did not destroy all the stuff or they would have cooperated with the inspectors to the enth degree to prove they where clean. Iraqi Army personel would have had no reason to be carrying gas masks, hypos, and antropine around........right? Saddam knew we would never use chemical or biological weapons against them for the many reasons that do not have to be re-iterated.
