Hasn't this thing (Jeanne) gone to a tropical storm status, which I'm sure is not good, but not another Ivan?
JEANNE got ripped apart by the mountains of Hispaniola. IMO, it's unlikely she'll even regain hurricane strength.
Forecast tracks show Jeanne and Karl heading almost due north, to open seas.
Calm down. Look at the forecast track.

Yeah and we all know that hurricanes and tropical storms always follow the five day forecasts..... /sarcasm off
Accuweather has said for a couple of days that it is going to strengthen and then hit the east coast of Florida. Those guys contend it can't go North because of high pressure which will be building in the mid-atlantic.
What are you thinking?
Jeanne wasn't ripped up by Hispaniola, it was upper level wind shear that did it. Southwest winds kicked up a couple days ago and tore the storm apart, so much that the circulation center died out. The convection continued to persist and it reformed itself about a hundred miles northeast. Its expected to head north and spin around the ocean between Bermuda and the Outer Banks. It still warrants watching.
Karl is expected to run around the open Atlantic until it dies out.
We will not negotiate with Hurricanes or Tropical Storms...
I haven't seen evidence of high pressure buildup right now, its possible Jeanne will get swept up with the cold front from the east, but it all depends on movement and speed. If the front gets through before Jeanne is in the right position, its possible for it to head into the US since highs build after fronts pass by.
Yup, the Galaxy conspiracy is back in business and
testing out their weather control technology.
Where's Derek Flint when we really need him?
Then have a panic attack. The NWS has been fairly accurate in their forecasts past few storms.
bttt
Check out Accuweather's forcast.

Fine. I'll get out the shutters. And the tin foil.
I'm thinking I may not be able get my roof repaired until Christmas.
Agreed. Jeanne's not done by a long shot; not when all 5 models show her circling back to the south and west.
I guess the NHC and US Navy must be using crap forecasts since they show virtually the opposite track.
