I can imagine what the DU lurkers must think of this thread: "These people are so, I don't know, "macho-minded", it's disgusting!"

I hate to tell you but I have heard of someone hunting this way, sort of. My husband had a friend who would pull a log out in the middle of the trail & then lay down behind it. He wore camo and had his gun ready and when a deer stepped out, he fired. He usually got his deer. Of course I don't believe for a minute that Kerry has even hunted deer much less shot one. Birds maybe but not deer. Deer hunting is kind of a red neck sport. (Don't be insulted hunters, you know what I am saying)

Well, Ive been a deer hunter since 1969, and Ive never known anyone to crawl around on their stomach while deer hunting. You haven't hunted where I have then.
Of course the crawling was to get through the brush to where I could actually hunt.
Other places, the manzanita was 10-12' tall, so I could walk, albeit hunched, to get to the places I needed to get to.
The hard part is crawling back, with the deer in tow.

Here in Michigan yesterday I saw a bumpersticker that said "Sportsmen for Kerry". Knowing what I know about his anti-gun Senatorial history I was going to go up to the guy and challenge him on Kerry's history. However, he also had a ".......pipefitters Union for Kerry" sticker which pretty much explained the prior. I suspect the unions are putting out the "sportsmen...." stickers in an attempt to appeal to the union fellowship who are indeed hard core hunters in this state.

The guy probably took a "sportsmen for Bush" sticker and cut "bush" off and pasted over a Kerry sticker. I saw my father do this last election here in Pennsylvania with "Sportsmen for Specter" bumper sticker. He trimmed Specter off and pasted it above a Gore bumper sticker. It was the only "Sportsmen for Gore" bumper sticker I ever saw.HHHMMMM...... I guess that's kinda like forgery, Huhh? Must be a democrat thing.. HEH HEH HEH

After my posting I found an internet site called sportsmenforkerry.com.
Incredible lies coming from that site. fortunately there is another one with similar name sponsored by the NRA

Maybe he just watches too much TV.
Remember this one:
"I've had some experience in farming myself. I was raised a good part of my life on a farm. I've helped deliver calves with my bare hands." --Al Gore (Agritalk with Ken Root, 3/20/99)'Because one thing you do when a cow is having a calf is you don't touch anything, you just let them handle things in a natural way like a cow can do.' -- Bob Carter, 72yr old dairy farmer (John McCaslin, The Washington Times, 3/24/99)

A handful of states and some parts of other states restrict deer hunting to shotgun only. But most use semi-autos or pump shotguns, not twin barrels. I'm surprised he didn't say he uses a Red-Ryder. Hm. Okay. I just think of a double-barrel as a bird gun. Every deer hunter I know uses a .270 or '06, or similar. I think you'd be laughed out of the state if you showed up with a bird gun.

I sure have never heard of anyone crawling around on the ground.
Sounds like a kid playing army to me
If the testimony of some of his Swift Boat mates is true, the only game
Kerry knows how to bag is a single Vietnamese guy running away from him.
And thanks for the Michigan deer hunting info. It's interesting to hear
how game conservation is run in different parts of the country.
My relatives in central Missouri were telling me that the bag limits were up (and
restrictions on modes of hunting) were substantially reduced this year due to
a population overload...of deer.
