In both of those cases, a few people pointed to relevant facts, and were mostly ignored.I was a voice of caution all afternoon on Thursday, and I'd do it again. It was not until Thursday evening that we began to get definitive proof. And if the TrueType and Adobe font designers hadn't spoken up, we'd still be in limbo.
There's a lot of noise on FR, as eleswhere, but the truth stands out when it becomes undeniable.
There are, by the way, still a lot of posts on the subject that are innacurate, but real.

Well, I learned something - I was going to post that maybe the correct word was
trawl. But when I looked up "trawl", I saw that "troll" is a synonym. I guess the negative connotations of "troll" would still push me toward "trawl."
Interesting...

I am hoping a couple of things happen here. I hope that Kerry will lose, and that perhaps a couple of big name Democrats also lose. The Gloves are now off. The Republicans have now formally charged the DNC and Burkett with the memo fraud (I overheard this on FNC while catching up on some work). If liberals were mad a few days ago, they are going to be furious now. The DU Denizens are probably throwing fits. Bigger than Watergate. MUCH MUCH bigger. The more incredulous that folks like Korn and Clift act the madder middle America will get. Wait and see.

We have to let nonsense be posted, because in the end you dont know what is or is not nonsense. I positively agree. It is one of the great things about FR, that our discourse is bound mostly by decency, and for those who really want to know the truth, an expectation that assertions be supported with source material and lucid explanation.
The only point I was trying to make, I think, was that there is much noise on FR. And all of us, myself emphatically included, are prone to make misstatements of fact.
There should be a way to 'rate' threads and articles, so that the best stuff is able to peek above the crowd. Feedback mechanisms like that are good.
I am firm believer in caveat emptor. It is properly the reader's chore to sort out fact from fiction, and to reach his or her own conclusions.

I haven't read through all the posts yet, but do you know the LA Times revealed Buckhead's true identity....an attorney in Atlanta....and gave his name too....
Bless his heart, I'm sure he didn't want that.

Appearing on the O'Reilly Factor shortly afterwards, a former CBS News executive, Jonathan Klein, dismissed the blogs. On the one side, he said, you have a professional news bureaucracy with "multiple layers of checks and balances." With blogs, you have "a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing." Klein's "pajamas" taunt would be seized on throughout the blog world. It would also come to represent the high-water mark of the CBS defense.Pajama Party!
Actually, I'm wearing plaid boxers. Freepers like genuine diversity.

This is a link to contact information for the station managers of most, if not all, of the CBS-TV affiliates nationwide. Please post this to your ping lists so that pressure can be put on the station managers to get Rather off the air.

It has names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and fax numbers.
