I wonder why we didn't take that same approach with Nazi Germany --- well there are still Nazis -- maybe we could throw a big celebration for them at some amusement park --- show how tolerant and loving we are toward their ideology in hopes that they will learn a little tolerance too. Hold off on the Halloween decorations while we put up some swastikas to show them how accepting we are of all belief systems.
Bias against muslims? Sorry, but I take a jaundiced view of any person or group that wants to exterminate me and mine just because we are not like them. Call it bias if you will. I call it "critical analysis."
Again, the family on the ride does not want to exterminate you...it may sound good...but lets worry about the facsists in the middle east and their agents here....and no I don't belive everyone there was part of a big roller coaster loving sleeper cell! I also know and understand the threat...its just not every muslim is evil-think of what you are saying!
oopps! what I meant in my previous post by it "sounds good" means like a focussed rally cry that they all want us dead...not that exterminating us sounds good.......!
If they don't, they aren't really following the Koran and aren't really Muslims.
There are some Muslims in name only --- one reason --- if they dare to question the ideology or the Koran in any way, it's the death penalty for them also. But the Koran is very clear on what must be done with Christians and Jews.
The family Saud has to make a decision. Are they going to control the wahhabist and renounce their longtime alliance with them or not. I'm not sure they'll be able to do this(assuming they want to). Wahhabism is such an fundamental part of Saudi society. Still I remain (somewhat) optimistic as there are those working to bring about this change.
The Religious Policeman
A Saudi man's diary of life in the "Magic Kingdom", where the Religious Police ensure that everything remains as it was in the Middle Ages.

Yes indeed--this is precisely why they fear the enforced democracy in Iraq. The mullahs in Teheran and the tin-pot dictators in Damascus and Tripoli understand it could spread quickly--catalyzed by the Internet and FREEREPUBLICDOTCOM!
Wouldn't it have made more sense to do the bomb sweep the day after Muslim day?
You wanna defend this bunch of death cult fanatics, be my guest. A great country, America...
LOL, TS...and it's not even cocktail hour yet.
"I thought I was going to die," said Ms. Khan, a sophomore at New York University, upon exiting the Nitro, the mile-long roller coaster that drops 230 feet at about 85 miles per hour.
Hmmmmmmm. (tic-a-lock)
Lookie here.
That is not true, Muslims do not face the death penalty for not wanting to exterminate you! What we are dealing with are radical muslims supported or allowed to flourish by fearful goverments afraid of poor, uneducated, street uprisings! C'mon, do you really think American everyday muslims face death or are not real muslims if they don't want us exterminated. Hey, lets round them up and teach them a lesson! oh oh, now I may be labled a muslim lover and i'll get mine next!
Really-I've said that we should restart the crusades and get it right this time and all that stuff (and still believe it) but when I read abject hatred for people who are Americans just because of race/religion it is a bit ugly. That is not who we are! Hey-bring to total justice anyone who wants to harm us-in and out of this country! But lets not react universally to everyone who is a certain religion..
"You wanna defend this bunch of death cult fanatics, be my guest. A great country, America"
Are you for real?
If a Muslim takes a good honest look at the Koran, the life of Mohammed, the rantings of their mullahs and decides he cannot go along with it anymore -- decides to find a religion of peace of some kind -- tries to leave islam --- yes he faces the death penalty. Look at Salman Rushdie --- they want to execute him because he disagreed with islam --- in islam there is no freedom to leave the religion.
It's hard to be angry at such sweet smiles.
Anyway, I've been reading Bernard Lewis's books, first "The Crisis in Islam", and now, "What Went Wrong?". I think I understand that there is a difference between Sufism and Wahhabism. I wouldn't want someone to come to any conclusions about Christianity based on the Aryan Nation or the KKK.
Do you know any muslims who would dare to stand up in public and say that the Koran and Mohammed are wrong -- that all Jews are NOT monkeys and pigs or that Jews and Christians should NOT be killed whereever they are found? They will get the fatwa put on them if they disagree or question anything.
There's a new movie coming out in Germany that should please you --- showing the sweet and soft side of Hitler. Do we think the Nazis never had sweet smiles on them?
As several others have noted on this thread (and I will type slowly so you can follow this) we were attacked on our own soil by Muslim fanatics and mainstream Islam was--for the most part--dead silent.
THAT'S the problem...
