G. Gordon Liddy--I'll always have a soft spot for the G-Man, since he was the first conservative talk radio host I ever heard, on WJFK in Washington in the late '80s. He used to come on after Howard Stern (back when Stern was actually funny). His "review and comment on the news" segment in the 11 o'clock hour was FANTASTIC. It was great to hear the news stories and conservative columns that he'd read. So now he's like, what, 114 years old and trying to break Strom Thurmond's nookie record in the Master's Division?

Rush--still The Man. It seems like some of the life has gone out of the show since I started listening in 1991--I really miss all the different "updates" (who can forget "we're fierce, we're feminist, and we're in your face!")--but he still really does make it look easy, even after all his problems. None of his analysis is particularly original or insightful, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly reconstituted from other writers, but he packages it in a way that's very easy for the listener to understand and is a total master of the medium in all its forms. He's a pro's pro.

Glenn Beck--the first few times I listened to him, I was like, "Who is this guy? WHAT is this guy?" But now I really like the show. I like the humor, and those moments when he gets really personal can be absolutely wrenching.

Laura Ingraham--grr, baby. VERY grrr. Hotter than a South Carolina summer day and smart to boot. I don't usually get to listen to her show that much since it comes on in the mornings here, but when I do I'm never disappointed.

Neal Boortz--I can take him in VERY small doses. He's guaranteed to say something that sends me ballistic after a short time. He doesn't debate, he pontificates. I can't deal with his blanket dismissal of pro-lifers and "flaggots"...for a guy who went to school in Texas and has lived in Atlanta forever, he's the most Southern-bashing host on the air.

Hannity--uh-uh. I am NOT Hannitized. He's an OK guy, I'd probably love to sit down and slam a couple of beers with him, but I can't handle the show. He's either sucking up to his Republican guests or berating and yelling at his Democratic ones. No real debate. Oh, and buy his book so he'll shut up about it, please?

Mike Gallagher comes on here in the afternoons but I haven't listened to him yet. Dr. Laura's actually back on the air here too...why would anyone call that show? Why would you call and tell the World's Most Judgemental I-Am-My-Kid's-Mom just how bad you screwed up your life, so she can rip you a new one in front of four million people?

I don't listen to that much political talk anymore anyhow. I'm a sports-talk guy, and a huge Jim Rome fan.

Rack me, I'm out.

Actually I just started listening to G. Gordon Liddy and it took awhile before I appreciated him but he's actually quite good.

I forgot a couple...

O'Reilly--blows. Can't stand the guy. It's always I, I, I, me, me, me, I'm fighting for you against The Man! Please.

Jason Lewis in Charlotte--I've heard him twice while driving around up there, and I can see why the folks in Minnesota miss him. He's pretty good.

I've never heard Savage, I can't pick him up at night out here. I used to like Michael Reagan a lot but we don't get him here any more.

Oh yeah, and Cigar Dave. I don't know a ring gauge from a humidor, I just like his radio voice.
