An FBI agent shot and wounded a man as agents arrested a member of a Southeastern Arizona border rights group.

The group known as Ranch Rescue has had problems with federal law enforcement officers. Border Patrol helicopters hovered above the Ranch Rescue headquarters on the outskirts of Douglas.

The ranch is lcoated 1/2 mile from the U.S./Mexico border. It's owned by Casey James Nethercott.

Officials say at 11:15 Wednesday night, FBI agents arrested the 37-year-old convicted felon at the Safeway parking lot in Douglas. He's charged with assault on a federal officer.

During the arrest, authorites say, "Actions taken by Nethercott and Kalen Robert Riddle led one of the FBI agents to fire his weapons at Riddle.

Riddle was wounded and is listed in critical condition in a Tucson hospital.

Nethercott's arrest stems from an incident three weeks ago involving 3 border patrol agents. Court documents show Nethercott refused to stop when agents tried to pull him over.

He led the agents to the compound and yelled obsentities. He also said, "We're going to have a shoot out."

Douglas Mayor Ray Borane predicted something like that would eventually happen. He says the group has been confrontational with the Mexican Army and other law enforcement agencies.

Borane is hoping this will put an end to group and move them out.

Netercott spent the night in the Cochise County Jail and was taken to a federal facility in Tucson on Thursday.

Nethercott, 37, has a criminal record. He was convicted of assault with a firearm in California and was on parole when he joined Ranch Rescue.

In June, he was also found guilty by a Texas jury of felony firearm possession. They jury was deadlocked on a secord charge that accused Netercott of pistol-whipping an illegal immigrant near a Texas ranch.

There is going to be a lot more of this if we don't control our borders. This has not been brought up by Republicans because we want Bush to win so badly, but we need to do something about this!

That said, this Nethercutt guy sounds like he is not playing with a full deck.

GEOSTRATEGY-DIRECT INTELLIGENCE BRIEF
Report: Mexico is al-Qaida route to U.S.
Plans to use migrant smuggling paths to set up operatives

Posted: September 17, 2004
1:00 a.m. Eastern

Al-Qaida plans to use Mexico as a key infiltration route for sending operatives into the United States, according to a Mexican newspaper.

Mexican intelligence agencies have identified at least two routes for al-Qaida infiltration, the Proceso newspaper reported last week.

The infiltration plan calls for terrorists to depart South Africa for London and then take a non-stop flight to Mexico or a Central American nation and from there use migrant smuggling routes to reach northern Mexico and the United States.

Two of three suspected al-Qaida terrorists recently arrested in England and Pakistan had passed through Mexico with South African passports.

Another suspect, a Saudi national, is being sought in northeastern Mexico after traveling through Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

Adnan Shukrijumah is a key al-Qaida figure in North America. He was tracked to Sonora, Mexico, in August and is being sought by the FBI.

Yeah, really. The FBI was tired of them hiding copies of Unfit for Command.

Marine Inspector has indicated that Nethercott is a known trouble maker, who was wanted on other charges I believe.

That's all I have heard.

Thanks. Our government is NOT doing enough about this problem, and people are going to end up dying as a result.
Americans who live in the border areas are starting to form militias to do what the border patrol can't.

MSM Orwellspeak. Wanna bet this "compound" consists of a ranch house with a detached garage? Enemies of the state don't live in houses!

Wako again sounds like to me.

Strange that the FBI can concentrate so much firepower and effort on Americans. Must have way more men than is necessary to seal the borders.

Convicted felon, wants a shootout, so we shot him in front of the market. He deserved it...

Dang him for getting in the way of Illegals, why, that's Illegal!

Of course if the FBI is so worried about locals trying to stop the flow of illegals across their land, they could just patrol the borders and stop the flow themselves. I thought the FBI was supose to defend America, my mistake.

But it seems that the flow of illegals is to be defended, not stopped, even if it takes killing a few locals to keep the flood gates open. What is the loss of a few citizens, when the State has an agenda?

The group known as Ranch Rescue has had problems with federal law enforcement officers

According to other sources, the group Nethercott is affiliated with is called The Arizona Guard. It is a separate organization from Ranch Rescue.

This is a fundamental obfustication which uses the actions of one group to smear two. FOUL!
