Web News Grows, Papers Spiral Down -- Please visit CaptainsQuartersBlog and see how McCain-Feingold and the Federal Election Commission are threatening political speech on the internet.
WHO NEEDS THE MAINSTREAM PRESS ANYMORE?

Internet Passes Radio for Political News -Survey -- Speaking for myself, I find that it is much easier to confirm or refute news stories via the internet than through any other source. That is why the internet enjoys a greater appeal for the critically-thinking. I can gather my sources, check them, and decide about the information's reliability for myself, rather(no pun intended) than relying on someone else to do my critical thinking for me.
That is what the MSM and liberal press hates about the internet. Those of us who turn to the web for our information, and who bother to check for the reliability of the information, have caught every sneaky little lie that the MSM tries to sneak through. The MSM cannot live in an environment that promotes critical thinking. It infuriates the MSM that the majority of Americans no longer accept their version of the news as gospel truth.

Menace in Black II- The FEC vs. Blogs -- We have only a few more months before the Free Republic site is in this very set of cross hairs. McCain Feingold must be repealed as well. It was an abject failure and it is the problem, more legislation to permit the government to "regulate" political speech is an assault to every citizens rights. The only law in this respect should be one that insists on accurate reporting of financial contributions and by whom they are made.
 CFR was bad enough:

Digital Age Debate Hits And Misses -- Bloggers aren't aliens from another planet, a point that all involved missed. We're the media's best customers! We read and view their product voraciously, we care about its quality, we get to know the people who provide it, and we direct people to those sources and stories we find credible and interesting. Why the executives of these sources fail to recognize this eludes me.

Bloggers Are Busy Rewriting The Definition Of ‘Journalism'

...and speaking as one who has done some writing for hire in the past, I have always maintained that journalism is not rocket science-- I believe any reasonably literate and intelligent adult can learn how to write a comprehensible article based on the classic "five W's" of reporting.

Therefore, the field does not need more policing- what it needs is a wider variety of new writers and critics to self-correct.

 Lefty Bloggers Craving Media Attention
 Let's see:

Talk Radio. Dominated by Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh. Leftists try to get a toe-hold in this rich land, but have had little luck. Al Franken is more an object of derision than a mobilizer of grass-root opinions.

Blogs. Dominated by Conservatives who played a large part in re-electing George Bush. Leftists try to get attention, but no one listens to their whining.

TV News. Whupped by Fox, the Leftist stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS) just don't get the numbers. Their viewership declines while the Conservative stations thrive.

Conclusion: A truly objective MSM will continue to "speak truth to power" and attack all proposals coming from the Bush Administration, while simultaneously gushing over the enlightened policies put forth by Dean, Clinton, and Kerry.

Ethics & politics: Hillary's tales -- Exactly as I predicted this week in my column, the debate between the "old" Hillary! and the "new" Hillary has already begun. It is surprising to see it in the MSM, but it will be extensive in the blogosphere.

Click below for more information.

Congressman Billybob

Latest column, "NASCAR Lessons for Democrats"

Why Rathergate and Easongate Are Still Open -- the MSM and particularly the networks are broadcasting OLD news. By the time NBC, CBS, or ABC do their nightly "news" the news is out of date. All three have the same source of information. I and ANYONE can get the entire content directly off the AP or wires from drudge in five minutes. The only difference between them is the hairstyles.

Blogs of war wrong on bias, says media analysis ((media think tank declares "Media free of bias!")

Death by a Thousand Blogs - (internet catching up with Chinese government - interesting piece here!) -- China will change. The question is ... will it be a controlled change or a revolution. You can't stop information anymore - and you can't keep people from wanting to be free... that's like a virus.

NYT Editorial: Measuring the Blogosphere -- I would much rather read the blogs than the NY Times. The people in PowerLine and PoliPundit are more reliable and don't make up stories.
 Hoist Upon Her Own Petard--
Nancy Clark writes a sports column for the Des Moines Register. Bloggers could be forgiven for having never heard of her, but she certainly has heard about bloggers, if yesterday's column gives any indication. She gives vent to a hilarious rant about the credibility of the Exempt Media while denigrating bloggers ... and manages to unwittingly demonstrate why the blogosphere exists in the first place.
