Federally funded consultants hired by Secretary of State Kevin Shelley spent time registering voters for largely Democratic constituency groups and at partisan rallies, including one to "take back the White House," according to staff activity reports released Thursday.

Other contractors, paid thousands of dollars through federal funds from the 2002 Help America Vote Act, described outreach efforts at, among other things, the NBA All-Star week festivities, a reggae festival, a Janet Jackson "salute" and a community event on behalf of Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles.

What I would look for as the Democrats start to realize it's not going to be President Kerry taking office on Jan. 20th - is an extreme, extraordinary and hurried effort in NY and CA in terms of last minute GOTV, even though they already had clear margins in those states. If I am correct in this hunch - the DNC would rather shoot for the debating point that there was a popular vote majority for Kerry and an electoral college vote for Bush, and they might be able to claim that due to the preponderance of Democrats and the demoralized state of Republicans in NY and CA.

Yeah, the feds subsidize it and the states tax the spit out of it... go figure. And as you pointed out, the Democrooks use it for a bribe to snare illegitimate votes... what a self-perpetuating system!!!
