if we are going to go to war with china, we should really do it before the entire semiconductor industry is offshored there - it would kind of be nice to have some chips available to put into our bombs and missiles and such, don't you think?

china has a long term strategy to defeat the United States - economically at first which in turns undermines our military, through espionage, through use of proxy nuclear states like north korea, etc.

and we sit around on our asses and allow these insane free trade agreements to suck our economic might away to china. we deserve what's coming to us years down the road, Taiwan is just s small piece of low hanging fruit for China.

We need a plan that not only defends Taiwan, but extracts a penalty from China if it tries anything--like taking Hong Kong and the province to its north, and maybe some ports as well. After they are defeated in the war for Taiwan, we hang onto them as a reminder that they may not cause death to our military personnel without a price. If they make the war difficult, harsher ramifications would be in order.

It's not like we haven't told them that an attack on Taiwan will bring a respose from us.

I have never figured out why the Chinese are always foaming at the mouth over Taiwan. (And I'm not unfamiliar with the history behind the whole situation.)
