AK-47s, as well as SKSs were made in Russia, China, Czechoslovakia, etc. The Russian-made models were the best of the lot.
It is a Warsaw Pact rifle - commie made - but a damn fine weapon. I still use my Chinese SKS for deer hunting. It's pretty accurate up to 150-175 yards or so. The 7.62 X 39 soft core ammo drops 'em in their tracks.
What would you want to bet that he bought one of these SKSs back in the early 80's and told everyone that he took it off a dead VC that he "whacked" back in Nam....
I think the feds should get up in his grill!
That was the first thought when I heard he said "I've never used an AK for deer hunting." Try it John, you might be surprised. Similar power to a .30-30 (my understanding is that it's more powerful at extended ranges than a .30-30, but up close the .30-30 wins hands down), which sure as hell has taken down many a deer. I mean, the 7.62x39 is probably even cheaper than the .30-30. And out of a full-length barrel SKS, more velocity than an AK.
Darn you, Mr. Simmons, now you make me want to fondle my SKS.
