Ad cuts between Kerry circa 1971 saying he threw away his medals, "the medals themselves" and Kerry from a few months ago saying they "threw away the symbols, not the medals themselves".
Back and forth it goes a few times to make it clear he was lying then or lying now; underscores he'd been throwing away these things, and asks at the end how you can trust him.
He says he threw away his ribbons, but kept his medals. In the testimony, he says he threw away his medals. Meaningful difference is notable, not just a matter of semantics.
