Fellow Freepers,
I'm beyond happy that the AW ban has died the miserable death it deserved. But I am not satisfied. We need to take the offensive and begin deconstructing our national gun control laws.
I propose what I think would be a simple yet devestating move on this front. The most repugnant part of the 1968 GCA is the sporting purpose clause which gives the ATF quite a bit of power. I think we have a good chance of getting those two words struck from that law.
To do this, we will need to get legislation sponsored and backed by conservatives in both the House and Senate. We will need to write letters, call, and visit our congresscritters. We will need to push relentlessly until it is done.
If this succeeds, we open the door to removing the higher profile bans and other bad gun control laws.
If you want to help, please, post here or freepmail me and we'll get organized.
Thanks,
Mike
I teach firearms safety to citizens and I encourage them and provide them with the stuff that they need to apply for their CCW in Va.
An Armed Society is a POLITE Society.
Which two words?
"sporting purpose". Basically the reason the ATF has gotten away with making their own "law".
Mike
I'm going to go through the law and post the proposed changes. I hope to have it up here by day's end.
Mike
