Actually, as someone else may have said, not true. It could very well be a Chinese SKS "Assault" rifle. A semi-automatic rifle. Very common then, and now.
As I answered in an earlier post, I dont consider the SKS an assault rifle because it is not the weapon of choice of assault troops. An assault rifle is not just any rifle used by a military force. If that were true, then Remington pump and auto shotguns and bolt action rifles would also be assault weapons. An assault rifle is a rifle commonly used in the assault fully automatic with a large magazine capacity.
Even in California the SKS is not an "assault weapon". They're "legal" if the mag is pinned, so that it can't be removed. It's definately not an assault RIFLE, which would be fully auto capable.
