Say Hi To Tropical Storm Karl
NHC

As of right now Karl looks to be a fish storm...so no immediate concerns. But then again..the NHC said Jeanne would most likely scream out to sea once in the Bahamas...now they are hinting to a landfall between Jacksonville and the South Carolina/GA border.

Gonna call your bluff right here and right now..the tracks of 3 days ago showed Jeanne not coming on shore..now the models are speaking differently..and the FSU model is actually taking it into the GOMEX across Fla.

Should have named it Kerry, so it would peter out faster.

They should have named this one "Kerry."

But why on Earth would Karl Rove set up pro-Bush states for hurricanes instead of targeting the hurricanes into Kerry territory (NYC, MA, MD etc)?

Charleston SC neighborhood. Hopefully this thing will make a sharp northerly turn back out to sea.

Well, if it hits Florida again, then we could rule out Karl Rove. Though I think Karl Marx's minions (Democrats) might have something do with it (after all, they can't seem to 'Moveon.org' over 2000).
Seriously, I hope none of the remaining hurricanes hit Florida or any of the states for that matter. They have all suffered enough already.

It's my understanding that after Walter, we go to Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, etc. but I'm not too sure about that. Only in 1933 have we reached the 'W' storm. Even in 1995 we only had Hurricane Tanya. But who knows? This is one active season.

"Virginie"? Is that politically correct? Is the NAACP going to boycott NOAA or whoever the heck makes up these names? 'Cause everyone that sees that name will associate that with the Confederacy, the Rebel Flag, and summer sun rising to burn off the morning Southern mist to reveal the beautiful facade of those stately oak trees draped in Spanish moss lining the approach to the glorious antebellum mansions that hide death and torture and muffle the mournful anthems of the dark days of slavery... Do we really need to be reminded of THAT?!
We need an investigation.

We need hurricanes with diverse names. Hurricane LaKesha or Tyrone would be a start.

Check the current status, in the animation that started this thread :
country threatened by TWO cat. 5 hurricanes - Ivan, Javier (unprecedented) There are more unprecedent things visible right now :
- the first time that a new born hurricane (hours old, Jeanne) manages to survive the highest mountains in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic)
- the depression that took the shortest time ever to turn into a hurricane (Karl, eastern Atlantic)

It's suppose to be Ivan's track.
I just heard a report on MSNBC from 4 miles inside the NC border with Tennessee; I-40 beside the Pidgeon River is completely swamped and crumbling.
The guy said that there was so much rain that water was coming off the mountain/rock face like Niagra Falls; the state trooper said in 35 years, he'd never seen anything like it.
