Sorry to disappoint you, FRiend :-). I've had kids 2-4 years old start crying for all kinds of reasons, because you told them, "No, we're not having ice cream, now, sorry." or "There's no bathroom in the van, I thought we'd covered that before!"
After 800+ posts on this situation, probably I was headed in the wrong direction, originally, but it's not unrealistic. Wait until your son is 2!
