Burkett Admits in February Weblog that He Saw Killian Documents in the Trash
Allah Pundit/Commissar Post ^ | 9/16/04

I encourage you to check out the Commissar's post.

He found a comment left by Bill Burkett on a blog back in February that includes the following sentence:

'Of the files that I saw within the 15 gallon waste can were numerous documents which detailed why 1LT George Bush was grounded from flying including a two page counseling statement signed by LTC Jerry Killian.'

Compare the abbreviation of Bush's rank used by Burkett with the one used by the forger in the August 1, 1972 memo. (1st Lt.)

According to several readers, '1LT' is the correct form.

If Burkett is the forger, if he knows the proper abbreviations, and he wants the documents to be believed, why on earth would he screw it up?

"Counseling statement" is an Army term; I am certain. It might also be an AF program, I don't know. But I do know that it is SPECIFICALLY what it is called in the Army.

1LT is also the SPECIFICALLY correct rank designation in the Army.

Whose trash was being rifled, why, and by whom?

And read this from an article/commentary from August of 2004.

From Bill Burkett (August 25, 2004)... Bush lies about his service, smears Kerry’s and seeks exoneration for the Abu Ghraib brass. NOTE: this is a PDF file.

George W. Bush, you may be the president [sic]. But I know that you lied.

I know from your files that we have now reassembled, the fact that you did not fulfill your oath, taken when you were commissioned to "obey the orders of the officers appointed over you". I know that you not only lied to the American people in 1994, but have lied consistently since then. Mr. Bush, not every serviceman except you is incompetent. When you failed to show up as ordered for duty, they simply recorded the truth. And the truth was, they didn't think you were especially important enough to jeopardize their own careers to cover for your absence by fraudulently counting you as present in any piece of documentation when you clearly were not present.

Mr. Bush, in 28 years as an enlisted man, an officer, a commander and a member of the staff team, I never missed a drill that I didn’t make up. But then again, I was never given that opportunity. It was an order.

Interesting. The phase, "...we have now reassembled"? Quotes ardound the phrase "obey the orders of the officers appointed over you". The phrase, again, "ordered for duty". And, yet again, "It was an order".

The article itself is quite revealing about the depth of hatred this Burkett guy feels for Bush. It's really gross.

Several of the comments and phrases used in the documents are used ONLY in the Army National Guard.

Think about it this way.

President Bush was in the Air National Guard, not the Army National Guard.
Burkett was in the Army National Guard.
Burkett had a grudge against Bush when he was in the guard.
He didn't know the Air Guard and the Army Guard used the SAME abbreviations for a 1st lieutenant, so he got that wrong.
The proper abbreviation is 1LT for both services.

check out my 19.

The guy has had 2 nervous breakdowns. If anyone outed him, he could easily have another. Any questioning would bring out the truth, and he'd go nuts again. I think that's why they keep him hidden.

I posted this on another thread.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1217612/posts

"...commanders, in touch with Mr. Bush's political advisers, left documents in the trash while sanitizing the governor's service records"

Just an observation, but if in fact one was "sanitizing" records, simply putting them in the trash would be unusual.
Would this not be a privacy violation? Military records are confidential. Did they not have shredders in '97 ?

He would screw up on the abbreviation becaus:

1) Burkett is from the Army National Guard.
2) President Bush was in the Air National Guard.
3) Burkett used the Army National Guard Abbreviation Convention of 1st. Lt. Not the Air National Guard abbreviation convention of 1LT!!!!!

He is so nailed.

So Jim Moore forged the memos in Abeliene?

Jim Moore can write about Bush's Brain, but that doesn't mean he has one himself. Even so, I don't think that he wrote the memos. those were comments from a post 4 days ago were I guessed that Bill Burkett had definitely been in the chain of custody, before it was known for sure.

CBS had 4 documents and USA-Today had 6...

We forget that USA Today got the documents independently of CBS from a person with knowledge of Texas Air National Guard operations" who declined to be named "for fear of retaliation."
The source for both is probably the same person, but the link hasn't been made yet.

I wonder if anyone has done research re: nailing down the USA-Today source ?

No, CBS got 6 documents, but only released 4. The CBS expert said she evaluated 2 memos, but only one of them was on the show. Some claim that they were authentication shopping and left out 2 memos that were shot down.

I believe that there was a coordinated plan to release the other 2 memos as part of an attempt to point to Bush using cocaine in the National Guard. See my post here:

The Motive

'Of the files that I saw within the 15 gallon waste can were numerous documents which detailed why 1LT George Bush was grounded from flying including a two page counseling statement signed by LTC Jerry Killian.'

Compare the abbreviation of Bush's rank used by Burkett with the one used by the forger in the August 1, 1972 memo. (1st Lt.)

According to several readers, '1LT' is the correct form.

If Burkett is the forger, if he knows the proper abbreviations, and he wants the documents to be believed, why on earth would he screw it up?

The answer to the question as to why Burkett might have screwed up the abbreviations or rank is that Burkett was in the Army National Guard, if I am not mistaken, during the early 1970s. He then had numerous jobs before accepting a commission in the Texas National Guard to work at the headquarters in the mid-90s. I suspect he was a member of the Texas Army National Guard, not a member of the Texas Air National Guard. (Can anyone confirm this?)

The Air Force and the Army have long used different rank abbreviations for the same rank. Note that Jerry Killian was an Air Force officer whose rank abbreviation would have been Lt Col whereas Bill Burkett (if he was an Army National Guard officer) would abbreviate his rank as LTC.

The current rank abbreviations are:

AF Army Rank Spelled Out

2Lt 2LT Second Lieutenant

1Lt 1LT First Lieutenant

Capt CPT Captain

Maj MAJ Major

Lt Col LTC Lieutenant Colonel

Col COL Colonel

Brig Gen BGEN Brigadier General

Maj Gen MGEN Major General

Lt Gen LGEN Lieutenant General

Gen GEN General

The capitalization is important.
