Do we think their high-school teachers followed this line of thinking to its natural conclusion and accused FDR of being no better than Hitler? After all, the US was pretty darned nationalistic during WWII. FAR more so than we are today.

This kid is a pathetic, useless turd. I don't see him improving.

When my husband and his brother were in high school, my hub found out his brother and some friends had been out joy-riding and smashing mailboxes and porch lights. He was appalled by his brother's behavior, and couldn't believe that he showed no remorse: "No problem, insurance will cover it," was his brother's reply.
A few years ago, that same brother (now a homeowner) was complaining to my husband that some kids had punched out his porch light. And my hubby got to speak the line he had been waiting years to say: "But you have HOMEOWNER'S INSURANCE, don't you?"
