We now have a two-party press

Right Justified Media
-vs-
Socialist Media

.

A two-party press has existed for how long in the UK?
From what I gather newspapers in this country have always been right or left-justfied.
It's the electronic media that until recently was dominated by leftists

I still haven't given up on O'Reilly, yet. I don't have a problem with his opinions not always falling on either the conservative or liberal side of an issue. What I do have a problem with is; he is there to give his opinions; not as an impartial journalist. It is utterly ridiculous for him not to endorse a Presidential candidate. I do not understand how he can sit there and pretend that John Kerry is a viable candidate for the Presidency. It is one thing for the brainless lamestream media to pretend he could actually do the job, but O'Reilly is supposed to be smart. He does his viewers and the country a great disservice to pretend that he doesn't know that Kerry would be anything but an unmitigated disaster for our nation.

Yup. Special Report with Brit Hume has it all. Regular news, analysis, opinion, and a little bit of comedy.

It would seem that some in the media are beginning to understand the seriousness of the situation.

The longer they don't get it the better. Tell Pat Caddell to keep his mouth shut. Let it collapse.

O'Reilly went over the top by slamming conservatives as right wing.

He did it to get ratings. That gives me pause.

For years people have spoken of the "media" (a plural noun) as if that term were a singular (that would be "medium"). That is not surprising, given the fact that the media have so often taken the same line on current events.

Indeed. It is not accident that the same stories, the same relative importance, the same points, etc. are made by scores of "independent" media outlets, on the very same day, each and every day of the year.

Fact is, these outlets are not independent. They form a herd. The old media is a liberal herd, and it follows the lead of the Democrat/Socialist party.

I was teaching in the late 70s and early 80s. Even a quality public school was making the kids fill out forms all day instead of actually learning. So that they will be good little taxpayers.

Needless to say, I pursued an alternate career path thereafter.

Breathes there such a thing as a real newsman? Having been the subject of a local interest news release once, I hope to remain anonymous forever, the inaccuracies were amazing, beginning with assigning me an entirely new first name that did not even sound anything like mine.
Just last night I watched a reporter giving on-site commentary about Hurricane Ivan, his breathless commentary was obviously out of sync with what could be observed on camera around him. If they don't even get it right when they are commenting on what you can plainly see then how can you believe them about anything? I now file news stories in the category of maybe, maybe not.

Bill O'Reilly ought to take a gander at Matt Drudge this morning. Drudge is reporting that CBS is gravely worried because Rather's viewerhsip has dropped off big time. The American people are telling CBS Dan Rather must be fired today!!!! I believe we should also boycott Bill O'Reilly and teach that turncoat a lesson he will never forget. Let's just see if his new found liberal scum support him!!!

Actually we do. You can send your children to private school anytime you want to. Problem for most folks is that they are taxed so high that there is no room left in the budget. Make school attendance optional. If it was up to me I would defund the public schools and turn them into private not for profit corporations. That way the middle class can get what they pay for. The rich already pay for what they want. Poor people will have a problem. I am OK with that. More people get what they deserve with school privatization. Remember what public schools were created for - to Americanize immigrant children by getting them away from their parents. Now of course the mission is to turn the kids into good little socialists.

Let me guess: You think CBS's Dan Rather, pushing forged documents, is a real newsmen?

Caught red handed, he doesn't acknowledge the crime done against him and the American people, but offers "cover" for the crime of forgery -- and that's journalism?

Not in my world.

O'Reilly's a journalist in the old style. He's one of us - not some out of touch elitist from a big name school. Journalists once came from the working class. And they reported on things that mattered. They has something to say - and the only "prize" they won was the trust of their readers. A prize that doesn't seem to matter anymore.

O'Reilly keeps the old tradition alive.

Riiiight. And pigs can fly.
