Your post is correct but I think that addressing them only serves to keep their lie in the media and potentially drawing off concentration on the documents and statements by supposed "experts".

We are not addressing the lie but we are getting the affiliates to start to question CBS and Rather. We also make the affiliates nervous if hundreds of emails about their performance in the "public interest" might be stick at license renewal time.
Their attorney might make them address the issue on risk that it is a lie they perpetrated by not pushing CBS. Oh and there is the issue of them using forgeries to present "news".

We want them breathing down CBS's backs now, not after the election.
