This is a matter of urgency, where roving gangs are robbing, raping and terrorizing in the pitch dark. Send help now, debate jurisdicions later. When a ship is sinking is not the time to stand on the shore and debate which lifeboats have duty in that area.
This thread seems to have attracted all the biggest jerks on FreeRepublic. Don't these people know that this is an English colony, and that of all the world, England has been our main ally in Iraq?
Not that that should even matter, in this case. There are Americans trapped there too, including, apparently the children and grandchildren of at least one freeper.
I'm sure something could be coordinated in the spirit of 'multinational cooperation' if the pols wanted to.
We just may need our military in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama, if things go badly here...
If the U.K. government asked us to send in the Marines, I'm sure we would within hours. But they haven't. Instead, the Brits have sent some naval personnel in to try to calm things. That may be inadequate, but it's Tony Blair's decision. The last thing we'd want to do is show up our ally.
I'm assuming there's no right to bear arms in the Caymans? Times like this is when that right is needed the most.
