To: Sam Cree

I grew up on the coast, Sam and until Hugo was never afraid. They kept us at the Wpnsta until early afternoon - the highways were clogged and I couldn't get to Aiken to be with 'Bina and my Momma.

I was alright until two things happened - Civil Defense came on and said this is not a drill...

And they had haul Charlie Hall out of the Channel Five Station.

Then my brother called - the lights had been out for several hours - he said he was watching the weather channel and the eye was over Charleston Harbour - then it starting getting real quiet - then it started up again worst than before.

Yes, Hugo was a terrible storm.

I'd been through 2 smaller hurricanes before Andrew, but I found out that they were jokes by comparison.
