~10:41pm~ EST JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH ABILENE KINKOS: Bill Burkett has a standing account with the Kinkos in Abilene Texas, and while the lady who answered the phone would not be more specific she did say Burkett was in there last week - she waited on him on last (a week ago) Tuesday....

What else explains the story?Sheer arrogance, hubris, derangement, and stupidity.
To: KMC1
Was he there a few ago when the documents were originally faxed...... We haven't seen anything he's faxed in the last week yet.

I talked about this exact situation at the college republicans meeting tonight.

Something Burkett's lawyer said interested me - that he no longer trusts the press. Perhaps he made these documents up several years ago as a way to blackmail then gov Bush into granting his disability claim. Got cold feet - decided to hang on to the docs. Then Rather's producer sweet talks him into handing them over and she runs to Kinkos and faxes them - they come from her so the source is solid. She gets the "get" by finally seeing these documents that everyone has been whispering about for years. Now he's gonna take it up the you-know-what and its all because he trusted her.

Forging another officer's signature, forging military documents, etc...... It's never too late to strip a retired officer of his retirement pay and benefits. And a retired military officer is subject to the UCMJ!

I agree. Sounds like Burkett is too nuts to pull this off. But he is also nuts enough to make a scapegoat out of. What if he pulls a Vince Foster? Oh wait, then Marcel Matley can examine the note.

Is that how I sound? All gloom and doom? I don't like to be pessimistic, just do not wish to get my heart broken over this. I pray that this is an entirely accurate and authentic account.

If you are in your 20s don't you research what was in use in 1973?They maybe used Hollyweird researchers.
I watched a flick tonight in which an Army Sgt. rattled off her service number which had a "US" prefix.
In another scene a senior Army NCO was addressed as "Gunny."

That has been suggested elsewhere. The thought being, I gather, that the nature of the questions asked by CBS defined the answers CBS wanted to hear. So the source, list of questions near to hand, sat down and composed forgeries which were tailored to answer the questions.
