NEW YORK (AP) -- In Congress and states nationwide, anti-abortion activists are broadening efforts to support hospitals, doctors and pharmacists who -- citing moral grounds -- want to opt out of services linked to abortion and emergency contraception.
A little-noticed provision cleared the House of Representatives last week that would prohibit local, state or federal authorities from requiring any institution or health care professional to provide abortions, pay for them, or make abortion-related referrals, even in cases of rape or medical emergency.

This is why I praise MTV "news" they never do this, they find the young good looking MTV-ish pro-lifers and put them on TV.
But seriously, these "conscience" clauses are EXTREMELY important and I'm glad to see people are focussing on them.
The lefty media does that all the time. I have a vestigal AOL account (because it's good on the road-- local everywhere) and their news opening spash screen is the *worst* for that. Today, they had Bush and Kerry side-by-side shots- Bush has this 'you've got to be kidding me' look on his face, Kerry has this great big smile. They do this crap all the time. For a while I was saving screenshots that were particularly egregious examples of this.
