A local talk show host here in Houston (700 AM) has a theory about O'Reilly. He knows Dan and the other two nightly news anchors are are their way out.

O'Reilly is being more "centrist" and "independent" to be more attractive to the big three networks, to line him up to be a replacement anchor when the current anchors retire. That will keep him in the anchor seat for 20 years and he hopes he can take bring some of his Fox audience with him.

O'Reilly was asked about this in a letter earlier this week. He scoffed at it. I think his true intention was uncovered.

Some people are willing to sell their soul for a job.

Could be. O'Reilly is an ambitious guy. Ambitious enough to not believ in anything to advacne his ratings and career for sure.

Only thing wrong with that scenario is that Bill-O is not a "journalist"...his roots are Inside Edition tabloid crap.
