Everyone should post to Drudge at his " SEND NEWS TIPS TO DRUDGE
[ANONYMITY GUARANTEED]" section the Houston Chronicle article that CBS' new 60 minutes star said she did not remember Mr. Bush!

Hiya. On Pacific Time this time of the year, so I fully expect to be hours behind observations, so I'll keep my browser tuned to your thread (You must be up to 2,000,000 post by now!).

No one also mentions the fact that Rather probably spent the afternoon EDITING her interview and then rerecording questions to fit with her answers. This will just bury CBS.
To: Howlin
Not sure if someone else mentioned this, but she said Bush always called her the wrong name cause he couldn't remember her name. I have heard and read in many places that one talent W has is he can remember everyone's name that he meets. What gives?

60 Minutes has not come on here yet. From all the comments I have been reading the answer is clear why it took CBS all day to make a statement. CBS must have been working all day making this video. It must have taken a long time to coach this woman and then edit the tape.

So Grandma was inside everyone's head. She tried to come off as sort of sweet, but got a bitter look on her face when asked about Killian's son. In a Bette Davis moment, she uglied out, "He has no idea what went on".

Don't flame me, but wouldn't the ACLU be interested in this? Forged documents to bring the President down.

What I find just astonishing is that Rather was interviewing her on the basis of forged documents. He said that there were documents "just like these".
Last night, on H&C, Colmes asked Brent Bozell a question about the charges made against Bush in the docufakes. Bozell looked at Colmes like he was insane (because he is), and said, "I'm not going to discuss the content of forged documents."
This twisted pretzel logic is maddening.

I did not watch the CBS 60 minutes II show. I haven't watched CBS in a very long time.
But, let's see what has happened today. CBS offered to make a statement, then put the statement off, then decided to run the 60 minutes II, Dan Rather interview of a little old lady.
They wanted to build up much hype as they could by putting off the statement for as long as they could, so they could try to turn a complete loss into some kind of gain by possibly making a ratings coup.
They wanted to earn the respect of the other MSM news agencies by sticking with a lie they all want to believe, and by changing the angle to being the bad old internet users against a little old lady. Since bloggers surely would not dare go after her.
Then by showing how shrewd they are in winning the night's ratings, the rest of the MSM will bow down to their clever way of fooling the internet upstarts and will worship CBS again. They say, 'Who cares what they say about us, as long as they spell the name right.' In other words, good or bad publicity is still publicity.
Instead of getting angry, instead of falling for their diversions, remind the world that Dan Rather uses old ladies to fight his battles for him. Remind him and CBS that truth will out and that cowards hide behind granny's skirts.
CBS cannot be trusted. CBS has offered up a character assassination with no evidence. With there only defense being an elderly woman whose age makes her changing story understandable. The shameless use of this poor old woman in their defense is beyond all possible sense of reason.
CBS has forgotten they depend on their reputation. (They just remind everyone they had a reputation.) The best way to combat this shameless evasion of their obvious error, the best way to show them that there is a reason for a "news" broadcast to have a reputation is to stop watching CBS and do the following:
Do not attack the poor old woman who is obviously a victim of CBS's arrogance.
Flood their advertisers, not just the nightly news advertisers, but any advertiser on CBS with mail.
Contact the FCC remind them of the broadcast network's duty to serve the public, not fleece the public.
Let CBS know that this type of unsubstantiated character assassination by a broadcast network will not be tolerated in a nation of people who love truth.
Demand the original documents and demand to know who they received them from.
Demand to known what it is about their source that makes it so impossible for them to divulge the truth.
This is a sad day for this country. When our media feels it can broadcast any thing with impunity. When journalists no longer believe that integrity should go hand and hand with the search for news.
I am disgusted, but I am not surprised. I'll be manning the phones and going door to door in the precincts with a lot more enthusiasm than I have ever imagined I'd have. I am a soldier in the war for truth.

At 86, she's not too far from meeting her maker. Trashing the President, and in my opinion, LYING...tells me she's taking the elevator down, not up. Flame away. I don't care.

Slightly off topic, but, do you remember the Dan Rather Chicago taxicab incident ?
I do and the image of Rather trapped in the back of speeding taxi, yelling at people on the sidewalks, is hilarious.
"In 1980, there was the cab ride in Chicago during which Dan Rather, in town to do a '60 Minutes' interview,
thought the driver either didn't know where he was going or was taking a longer route to increase the fare.
When the anchor asked the cabbie to stop, he sped up instead and Rather ended up with his head out the window yelling for help."
(When the incident was picked up by the national press, Rather attempted to explain himself:
"Anybody who tells me that they haven't had something like that happen to them, tells me they haven't ridden very many cabs in very many cities.")

Well, now we see it. 60Minutes, with Dan Rather, and CBS have just put their defenses up.
The evil GOP is now attacking a sweet old silver-haired grandma, who believes along with the majority of The Sheep, that GWB is "illegitimate" and "Unqualified".
Nastydamn GOP'ers, we all want seniors eating dog food and voting Republican. </ sarcasm>
But, the damage is done. "Not the facts of the case, but the seriousness of the charge." And The Sheep have heard, and The Sheep will believe.

Just having watched 60 Minutes II tonight, it appears now Rather's credible source is now Killian's secretary of all people who even discredited Killian's son by saying in effect "he wasn't there at the time", and Rather is still not backing down. According to Rather's ending statement after his 60 Minutes II report tonight, he's sane and the critics are kooks. Dan Rather then suggested that everyone look into the heart of the story, and not how/why CBS is biased. According to Rather, the reason this story is out there is because George Bush got preferential treatment getting in and while in the NG. (That part made no sense to me no matter how I look at it).
It would raise anyone's eyebrows if Bush had gotten preferential treatment to stay out of the NG, not trying to get into the NG. This whole facade perpetrated by Dan Rather's fixation to stain George W. Bush's presidency while boosting his own ego is absolutely, without a shred of doubt, beyond BIZARRE. Dan is truly living in that alternate universe we've all found that dingbat kook Liberals live in.

One of the most sickening displays of partisan media hacks, Dan Rather was sitting in his chair like a giddy schoolboy, repeating any statement by Killian's secretary that impugned President Bush, turning it back to her into a question. He's not interested in getting to the bottom of this, he's only interested in his own ego, and putting his partisanship on full fledge display while destroying President Bush.
I literally felt like barfing and sticking my boot into the TV when Rather said "if we find any evidence to the contrary, rest assured we'll tell you about it".
