What do you think is CBS' ultimate aim here - what's their end game in this matter?

Trying to stop the bleeding.

Using CBS logic, someone can write a memorandum that details how Rather and CBS are really spies for Fidel Castro, and that several folks who worked for Rather 30 years ago confirm the "content" of the memorandum.

So, Dan, can you tell the American People why you were a Castro spy?

Yep, the left is melting.

So It's down to this. This eyewitness said the documents were fakes and she would have been the only person on this earth that would have written Killian's memo's. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTT. She knows what her boss "felt" about President Bush but has no documentary evidence to back her assumptions. (She believes that President Bush was selected rather that elected). Now if the documents were proved to be fakes by the only person on earth that knows for sure. How can CBS still maintain that President Bush did anything wrong. Logic has no place at CBS.

Gary Killian is already on record as of last night that she is wrong.

I'll bet Dan didn't include that little factoid in his "report".

DAN RATHER VERSUS THE SECRETARY [Jonah Goldberg]

Dan Rather is going to interview the 86 year-old former secretary of Lt. Col Killian. I hope he grills her like Sam Kinison quizzing Rodney Dangerfield in "Back to School."

Dan Rather: Is it possible thaat Lt. Col. Killian wrote these memos when you were sick one day? Or on vacation? Or perhaps you took one too many nips at the sacremental wine?

Sweet Old Lady:Mr. Rather I don't believe so....

Dan Rather: Listen Lady! I'm not going down over this! Is it possible?

Sweet Old Lady: Is it possible?

Dan Rather: Yes, damn it! Is it possible?

Sweet Old Lady: Well...

Dan Rather: Say it! Say it you old battle-axe! Say it! For all that is holy if you want to see your 87th birthday you'll sayyyyyyyyyy it!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAY IT!!!!

Sweet Old Lady: Yes, it's possible. [Cameras go on] Lt. Col. Killian wrote these memos.

Dan Rather: There you have it ladies and gentlemen, Lt. Col. Killian's own former secretary says they're real. The truth will out. I'm Dan Rather. Courage.

ROTFLMAO!

Look for a heavily edited interview with Ms. Knox tonight.

Probably be like a ranson note where somebody cuts out individual words out of magazines and pieces them together to make sentences.

Bush is ahead PRECISELY because of the facts you state.

1) The MSM, especially CBS, has missed this: the public has already rendered a verdict on Vietnam, whether it's Kerry's Vietnam (they think he was there, but that something was fishy with the PHs) or Bush's Vietnam (he never claimed to go, so leave him the hell alone). EVERY SECOND THEY SPEND ON THIS ADDS TO BUSH'S ELECTORAL TOTALS.

2) In the public mind, security is #1, 2, 3 and 4 through 10. Everything else is a distant #11. Bush leads in every leadership category there is. All this does is make the Dems look even more petty, and makes Bush look more like a statesman.

BE GLAD! Celebrate! Next to the Swifties, this is the greatest thing that has happened to us!

Nope. This is a dead story (see today's Rasmussen poll).

The public has already made up its mind about two things:

1) Bush and Kerry both served "honorably," and while there was perhaps hanky-panky with Kerry's medals and/or wounds, he was in Vietnam and he did what many people would do---he got out asap. As for Bush, he did what many others would do---served in the Nat. Guard. He would have gone if called, but wasn't. End of story in the minds of probably 60% of most Americans.

2) But the political implications are huge, precisely because the public has already rendered a verdict on these issues. Instead, what this flap does is to raise an altogether different issue of Vietnam=War on Terror. Kerry has tried to use this as a proxy, and every time he does, Bush gains. People take the following steps in logic: Vietnam-Security-War on Terror/Iraq-Best leader?---Bush.

Rather and CBS have been incredibly stupid. It's beyond all imagination, even from their perspective.

Yah, but that's really hurt us, hasn't it? (Sarcasm off). Bush's lead in EVERY STATE has grown since this "unbiased press" tried to swing the election. People ain't as stupid as you think.

Someone obviously was waving a stick behind Rather's head with Geritol and Depends tied on a string.

"Now tell us what we want to know!"

No; --the only thing they had to do was showing a poster of Hillery!!!

Rather is pathetic. Reminds me of Clinton trying to save his legacy. Clinton will always be remembered for Monicagate and Rather for Memogate. They should have lots to talk about in their retirement.

Use my exact words if you like. That will show them that I wasn't BS'ing (or C-BS-ing) about passing the word. Please, everyone write Wally-World and complain. They surely had no intention to promote Dan Blather. Some little twit in PR had a budget and was "stroked" by a c-BS exec into dropping a chunk of it there. Let's put a stop to it.
