.......yes, that's true......Rather was a young reporter with KPRC in the 60s and made his mark by getting out in the middle of Hurricane Carla and giving a live report.....the legend has it that he climbed up into the cupola in the Galveston post office and described the storm swirling around him.
The one I heard was that he tied himself to a tree and carried on from there.
