RE post 436: It took me almost 3 years to get 350 hours flying time in Strategic Air Command after flying school. Bush was a "weekend warrior". I flew long missions where Lt Bush flew short missions in the F102.

I came real close to getting a flight engineer slot on C-141 or C-130. I had been a crew chief on F-4C and F-4E. Checked into flying with some reserve groups and what I remember was that they did one heck of a lot of flying. Back and forth to Europe 4-5 times a month and not necessarily on the weekends. I couldn't figure out how I'd make a living.

Suppose I should have got a flight instructor rating back then and instructed. Although they told me in 1976 that it would take 4000 hours to get into the airlines and that seemed like forever. So I did computers instead.

Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:

"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."

coroborating ? (must have used a typewriter)
